I had so much fun shooting these romantic spring engagement photos with Savvi and David! This gorgeous couple are from the Springfield, Missouri area, and they wanted an engagement shoot that was classic, romantic, and simple. We chose an outdoor shoot to take advantage of the beauty of the season, and the engagement photos really let their connection shine.
Sometimes, simple really is best. With the overcast sky giving us a lovely soft light (it might seem counter-intuitive, but overcast days are actually great for photography, because the diffuse light stops harsh shadows), and the beauty of springtime around the happy couple, there was no need to overcomplicate things. I love it when the story just seems to tell itself, and with chemistry like theirs, you don’t need elaborate settings or props!
We chose this beautiful parkland to shoot these spring engagement photos, and when I saw this magnolia tree starting to bloom, I honed in on it. It was the perfect backdrop for these two – the pink blooms forming a contrast to Savvi’s romantic pale blue dress. In their pale, spring-inspired colors, Savvi and David glowed against the vibrant green setting.
One of my favorite parts about being a wedding and engagement photographer is helping couples to be comfortable in front of the camera. This is especially true on engagement shoots, which are often the first professional photo shoot people have ever experienced. It’s always so fun to watch the nerves melt away as couples just relax into being together and having fun!
